About this episode

The Older Adults’ Coalition of Chestermere is back after its summer break with new initiatives, practical information and a busy calendar for the fall.

This episode looks ahead to OACC’s Sept. 16 meeting, featuring occupational therapist Catharine from Valley to Peak OT Consulting. The presentation will explore what aging in place really means and offer practical strategies to help older adults continue living safely, independently and confidently.

Listeners will also hear about the coalition’s October presentation on wills and estate planning, opportunities to suggest future speakers, and ways for residents, organizations and service providers to become involved.

The episode includes a roundup of local programs and events, including the Chestermere Men’s Shed, Whitecappers outings, the Chestermere Country Fair and Rodeo, fall activities at the Chestermere Public Library and the City’s block-party program.

Health information includes Alberta’s Coverage for Seniors program and the diagnostic-imaging services now available through Frontier Diagnostics in Chestermere.

OACC meets on the third Wednesday of each month from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Synergy, 101–340 Merganser Drive West. Walk-ins are welcome, although advance RSVPs are appreciated.
