Vulcan non-profit society victim of fraud

Vulcan, Alta. - In September of 2025, Rainbow Literacy and Learning Society reported to the Vulcan RCMP that they were the victim of fraud. The executive director had been using the society credit card for personal use and stole over $15,000 from the society.

 

On July 8, 2026, Vulcan RCMP charged Barbara Moore-Coffey (58), a resident of Vulcan, with eight criminal charges, including:

 

  • Criminal breach of trust
  • Fraud
  • Use/possess forged documents
  • Forgery
  • Draw/execute document without authorisation
  • Theft (x3)

 

Moore-Coffey no longer works for the society. She will appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Lethbridge Aug. 19, 2026.
