Tip leads to arrest of suspected impaired driver

18 September 2018

A 60-year-old Chestermere man has been charged with refusing to provide a suitable breath sample after RCMP received a report of a car, "swerving all over the road."
Police were called for a report of a possible impaired driver who was driving erratically on Chestermere Blvd. Sept. 9 just after 10:30 p.m.
Policed patrolled the area and were able to locate the vehicle based on the description provided to them.
"Upon contact the driver was immediately noted to be heavily intoxicated and was taken into police custody," said Staff Sgt. Mark Wielgosz.
The driver of the vehicle refused to provide a breath sample to police.
He was held in police custody until he was deemed sober and released.
The man will appear in Strathmore Provincial Court to face the charge.
Wielgosz encourages anyone who suspects an impaired driver to safely call it in to police.
"It's all about road safety," he said, "to make sure everyone on our streets here in Chestermere are safe."
