Provincial grant to support Chestermere school equipment upgrades

04 November 2026

Friends of Chestermere Lake Middle School Society receives more than $25,000 for improvements By Stephen Jeffrey

Equipment improvements at Chestermere Lake Middle School are receiving provincial support through a grant of more than $25,000 awarded to the society that supports the school.

Chestermere-Strathmore MLA Chantelle de Jonge announced the funding Tuesday, Nov. 3, naming the Friends of Chestermere Lake Middle School Society as the recipient.

The society supports the school and its community. The funding is intended to improve school equipment, although the information available for this report does not identify the items involved, the exact grant amount or when the improvements will be completed.

Chestermere Lake Middle School is part of Rocky View Schools and is located on West Lakeview Drive. Its parent handbook describes a school community focused on belonging, relationships and students’ academic and personal development.

The equipment announcement concerns an existing school as the division also advances plans for additional student spaces in Chestermere.

A new Rocky View Schools facility in Dawson’s Landing has construction funding and an estimated opening in 2028. That school is expected to accommodate students from Kindergarten through Grade 9.

A proposed high school in Chelsea has received planning funding. Its opening date has yet to be determined.

Those projects provide broader context for education investment in the city, but the equipment grant is directed to the middle school’s support society.

The available grant information does not establish a connection between the award and either construction project.

For families at Chestermere Lake Middle School, details still to be clarified include which equipment will be improved and when students will have access to it.

The provincial program providing the money, the overall project budget and any contribution from the society were also not identified in the supplied announcement.

Until those details are confirmed, the announced commitment is limited to more than $25,000 in provincial support for equipment improvements at the school.
