Christmas market season begins in Chestermere this weekend, with additional shopping dates in Langdon, Strathmore and Calgary offering opportunities to browse gifts, seasonal food and handcrafted goods through early December.
The Chestermere Christmas Market is listed for Nov. 6–8 at the Chestermere Recreation Centre. Friday’s hours are 4 to 8 p.m., followed by 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Further Chestermere market weekends are scheduled for Nov. 28–29 and Dec. 12–13, with hours of 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The recreation centre is at 201 West Chestermere Drive.
Those dates provide several chances to shop close to home, including an evening session for residents unable to attend during daytime hours.
In Langdon, the chamber of commerce’s Light Up Langdon Christmas Market takes place Saturday, Nov. 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event uses two locations: The Track Golf Course Events Centre and restaurant, and the fieldhouse in Langdon Park. Its focus includes handmade products and local small businesses.
Strathmore’s annual farmers’ market Christmas event runs the same weekend at the Strathmore Motor Products Sports Centre, 1150 Edgeview Road.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29. Advertised offerings include handcrafted gifts, holiday decorations, baked goods and specialty foods.
For a larger outing, the Spruce Meadows International Christmas Market runs over four weekends: Nov. 13–15, Nov. 20–22, Nov. 27–29 and Dec. 4–6.
Shopping takes place in indoor pavilions and outdoor areas. Friday daytime hours are noon to 6 p.m., with adults-only shopping for visitors aged 18 and older from 6 to 9 p.m.
Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sundays run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are available through Spruce Meadows, with general parking included in admission.
Families planning a Friday visit should note the evening age restriction.
Several markets overlap on Nov. 28–29, making opening hours useful when planning visits. Shoppers should check organizer updates for admission arrangements, accessibility information and any schedule changes before heading out to enjoy the holiday market season around the region.
