Chestermere’s downtown will welcome fall with local shopping, children’s activities and vintage automobiles when the Main Street Harvest Market and Vintage Car Show returns Saturday, Sept. 26.
The community event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with market activities centred along Main Street and the vintage vehicles displayed nearby at John Peake Park.
The Harvest Market will bring together established businesses, independent makers, food producers, artists and community organizations. The City of Chestermere’s published lineup includes more than 30 visiting vendors, alongside businesses already operating in the Main Street area.
Shoppers can expect a broad selection of locally made and specialty products. The scheduled vendors include bakers, photographers, artists, clothing designers, jewellery makers and small food businesses. Other displays will feature candles, fabric creations, permanent jewellery, tote bags, three-dimensional printed products, artwork and locally produced hot sauce.
Among the participating food vendors are Coffee Crew Co., Etienne’s Delight, Love Dim Sum, Mara’s Bakeshop, Papa Nash’s, Sorelle Italian Bakery and Cafe and Yassy Bakehouse. Market visitors will also find vendors such as Friday Sock Co., House of Skulls Candle Co., Jules Cheeky Tees, Totally Totes, Veena Arts and White Rabbit Arts.
Community groups and service providers will also be represented. The published vendor list includes the Guru Amar Das Niwas Senior Day Program, Harmony Health and Fitness, LUNA Gymnastics and Pet Planet Chestermere Station.
Main Street businesses participating in the day include BrightPath Daycare, Dunn & Company, Gimmes Golf, The Mash, Massage Addict, Mi Burrito Bowl, MusicWorks, Nu-gen Dental and Tease Me.
The neighbouring vintage car show adds another dimension to the market. Visitors will be able to make the short walk to John Peake Park to view classic vehicles while spending time near the lake. The city has not published the number or specific types of vehicles expected to participate.
Children’s games and photo booths are also included in the announced activities, giving families something to explore beyond the vendor tables and car displays.
Bringing the market and car show together creates an event that can appeal to several generations. Some visitors may arrive for the automobiles, others for food or handmade products, while families can move between the activities at their own pace.
The event also places attention on Chestermere’s Main Street at a time when residents are being encouraged to consider where they shop and how their spending affects the community. Independent vendors and home-based businesses do not always have regular storefronts, making public markets an opportunity to introduce their products directly to local customers.
For established Main Street operators, the increased pedestrian activity offers a chance to meet residents who may not ordinarily visit that part of the city. For visitors, it provides an opportunity to discover businesses and makers working close to home.
The Main Street location also gives the event a different atmosphere from a market held inside a hall. Weather permitting, residents will be able to move between storefronts, outdoor vendors and the car show while enjoying an early-autumn day in the centre of Chestermere.
The Main Street Harvest Market and Vintage Car Show is presented by the City of Chestermere in partnership with Nu-gen Dental.
The city’s announcement does not list an admission charge, parking arrangements or possible traffic restrictions. Residents should not assume admission or every activity will be free unless that is confirmed by organizers.
