Gleichen RCMP advise residents to shelter in place – Update #2

17 June 2024

Siksika, Alta. - On June 15, 2024, Gleichen RCMP received a report that a male sustained a serious injury to his arm from a believed gun shot in the Map 8 area of Siksika First Nation. RCMP located the victim and ensured he received medical attention. The investigation revealed who the suspect was and RCMP quickly located him. For everyone’s safety, area residents were either evacuated and a shelter in place was issued. The RCMP Emergency Response Team attended and made contact with the suspect, who was in a residence. The suspect surrendered to officers.

Tim Munro (43m), a resident of Siksika, was arrested and charged with the following:

•            Attempted murder

•            Pointing  a firearm

•            Unauthorized possession of a firearm

•            Possessing a prohibited firearm

•            Failing to comply with conditions

After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Munro was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Alberta Court of Justice via CCTV on June 20, 2024.
