06 February 2018

Strathmore RCMP and Emergency Services responded to a two-vehicle collision East bound on Highway 1 at Range Road 284 at about 10 p.m. Feb. 5.
One women was pronounced dead on scene by EMS.
Police closed the highway between Conrich Road and Chestermere Blvd for several hours while an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist investigated.
RCMP are continuing to investigate the cause of the collision and stated in a press release that they will provide more details as they become available.
In a public Facebook post, shared to the I Love Chestermere Facebook Page, Loren Gurr confirmed that his family was involved in the collision.
Gurr states that they collided head on with a vehicle travelling towards them the wrong way on the highway.
"I'm just incredibly struck at this moment at how fleeting life is and yet how grateful I am for my family to all still be here," he said, "not everyone involved was as lucky."
