Elections Alberta is asking news organizations to help clarify the status of Forever Canadian events taking place across the province this week, following a surge of public inquiries that is affecting its ability to assist voters.
In a communication distributed to media outlets, the provincial election agency confirmed that it is aware of the events and that organizers registered as third-party advertisers are permitted to conduct them in accordance with applicable legislation.
The clarification follows a significant number of calls to Elections Alberta's service centre from Albertans seeking information about the events.
According to the agency, those inquiries are creating delays for other electors who require assistance with voting and election-related matters.
The agency's statement addresses whether the events are permitted under election legislation. It should not be interpreted as an endorsement of the events or their political messages.
Strong Advance Voting Activity
Elections Alberta also reported substantial voting activity as Albertans participate in the electoral process.
According to the agency's latest update, more than 186,000 electors cast ballots during one day of advance voting.
The agency also reported that nearly 47,000 election workers have been hired to support election operations throughout the province.
In addition, approximately 454,000 special ballots have been received and processed.
The figures reflect the scale of the administrative work involved in delivering voting services across Alberta.
Where Residents Can Find Information
For Chestermere residents seeking reliable information about voting procedures, ballot options or election administration, Elections Alberta remains the official source.
The agency's request to news organizations is intended to reduce unnecessary inquiries about the legality of the Forever Canadian events, allowing election staff to concentrate on assisting electors.
