A local community organization has contributed $3,000 toward improvements at Chestermere's Lakeside Golf Club, helping advance plans for a long-awaited shelter for volunteers and staff who help keep the facility operating.
The donation was formally presented during a Governance and Priorities Committee meeting of Chestermere City Council on June 16.
Representatives of the Lakeside Greens Preservation Society attended the meeting to present the cheque and express appreciation for the city's ongoing support of the golf course. Those in attendance included society president Brent Ladds, executive director Darby King-Maillot, and board members Lindsay MacKeracher and Joe Samulenok.
According to information presented to council, the funds were raised through community fundraising efforts and will be directed toward the construction of a shelter on the golf course grounds.
